I have a copy of “Sidekicks” in my house, which means that it must have been on a list for ‘Reluctant Readers’ or ‘If Your Kid Likes Captain Underpants.’ There are so many problems in this world I don’t understand why parents don’t throw a parade whenever their kid expresses interest in a book. Anyways, I’m not saying anything original. Thank you for everything you’re doing!!!

It is impossible for me to remember collection development decisions that many years ago, but I would not be at all surprised if that is *why* I bought it. We were in a weird place, too, in that the prior year we had to spend thousands and thousands of dollars to be in compliance with the state's collection standards (we were NOT prior). I remember going through lists like the reluctant readers ones and buying everything that had good reviews. The books in the kids graphic novels selection always went!
